I ran into this problem today where BizTalk 2009 Configuration reported “Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services with SP2 or 2008 is not installed or an incompatible version is installed”. I went through the hassle of finding the SQL 2008 setup kit and try and install Analysis services only to find out that it was already installed. Google (or should I say Live Search :-)) didn’t get me any resolution… Then I found out that SQL Server Analysis Services service wasn’t running…. Problem fixed.
A day in the life of Gijs.

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009SOA and BP conference, Redmond - More conclusions
Monday, February 2nd, 2009One thing I forgot to mention in my previous post (after such a busy 2 days full of sessions and almost no sleep at all it was unevitable to forget something…) was that I really think that the conference has grown with regard to content and presentation styles. You can tell that BizTalk and the people using it have become mature!
Some highlights:
- The presentation by Allan Naim & Brian Loesgen on “Deciphering the Microsoft Offerings for Real World SOA” was groundbreaking because of the use of different personas and that they could be identified by the hats they were wearing (great show!).
- The EMC presentation on “Adding Business Intelligence to SOA Applications” was the best I’ve ever seen on this topic, because it actually used a real life (great!) customer scenario instead of something made up in a lab. Great stuff.
Although the Demo Gods were not very favorable on the second day (none of the demos actually worked initially), overall the content was well presented with lots of real life (customer) content being used.
Cheers, Gijs.
